LAHAD DATU: A company director was fined RM10,000 or three months’ jail and penalised three times the tax owed amounting to RM2.6 million by the Magistrate Court, here, for failing to submit income statements.

Wee Yung Heow, 59, was found guilty of the charge before Magistrate Ryan Sagiran Rayner Junior.

He was charged under Section 112(1A) of the Income Tax Act 1967 which carries a fine of between RM1,000 and RM20,000, or maximum imprisonment of six months, or both, and a special penalty of three times the tax owed.

Wee was convicted of failing to submit the income statement (Form C) for the assessment year 2020 and 2021 without reasonable cause to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
