A disabled elderly man was found drowned in Sungai Gedok, Tampin, after leaving his home to collect broom-making materials near the waterway

SEREMBAN: An elderly man with physical disabilities was found drowned after having fallen into Sungai Gedok, Tampin here today.

Tampin district police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said they received a call from the public about the discovery of the man, 62, at 11.50 am.

“Investigations revealed that the victim left home at 2.30 pm yesterday looking for some material for a broom in the area near the river before falling in and drowning.

“No criminal elements were found and the case has been classified as sudden death,” he said in a statement here today.

The body has been taken to Tampin Hospital for an autopsy, he added.
