Disabled persons staged a protest at the Civil Hospital, Phagwara, and raised slogans against the hospital administration, alleging poor arrangements during a scheduled camp meant for their welfare and certification work.

According to protesters Palwinder Kumar and Mohan Lal, they had submitted a memorandum to the SDM earlier, requesting correction of errors in their disability certificates. Following this, they were given a time slot from 10 am to 1 pm for the camp work.

However, they alleged that proper arrangements were not made at the hospital, causing inconvenience to them. They said they were forced to wait for long hours despite their physical disabilities, which led to anger and protest at the site.

On the other hand, Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Dr Simarjit Kaur stated that the camp was delayed due to an urgent surgical operation. She added that despite the delay, all cases related to the camp were eventually resolved.

Following the incident, tension was witnessed on the hospital premises for some time as the disabled persons continued their protest.
