1. Pesta Rumbia

In Selangor and Penang, the Tamil Nadu community celebrates Ponggal, a sweet rice dish, during the harvest festival. It’s all about showing gratitude to the Sun God, Surya, for a bountiful harvest and exemplifies the spirit of thankfulness and reverence for nature’s abundance.
4. Chingay Parade

Have you ever heard about the colorful Chingay Parade in Penang? It’s a lively street procession showcasing gigantic flags, banners, and intricately decorated costumes to honor Chinese deities or the procession of the Goddess of Mercy (Guanyin). It’s one of many vibrant celebrations found in cultural traditions in Malaysia.
5. Vaisakhi

Lastly, Vaisakhi, a major festival for the Sikh community, is all about vibrant processions, traditional music, and dance, embodying the values of equality, community service, and unity. Their tradition of serving free meals, called ‘langar’, to all regardless of background is truly heartwarming.
