Recently, a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) was stopped by a Road Transport Department (JPJ) enforcement officer in Melaka during an inspection.

The Toyota Vellfire, driven by a local man, was tailed and eventually stopped after it was suspected of using a license plate belonging to another vehicle.

In a statement, JPJ Melaka said further checks showed that the license plate displayed on the vehicle actually belonged to a Perodua Kancil.

The inspection also revealed that the vehicle had no valid insurance and its Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) had already expired.

Because of this, several summonses were issued to the driver and the vehicle owner for displaying a licence plate that did not belong to the vehicle, not having valid insurance coverage, and having an expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM).

The vehicle was seized for further action, with JPJ reminding the public that strict measures will be taken against anyone who violates road regulations.

“JPJ Melaka emphasises that firm action will continuously be taken against individuals who break road rules, including those who falsify vehicle number plates. The public is urged to always comply with road laws to ensure their own safety and that of other road users.”
