The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has received an encouraging response across the district. The distribution of enumeration forms has been completed at all polling areas, said Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Sona Thind.

The DC said all 544 booth-level officers (BLOs) have successfully completed the door-to-door distribution of forms. Emphasising the importance of the exercise, she said preparing an accurate, transparent and updated electoral roll was a shared responsibility and every eligible citizen should ensure their name was correctly enrolled.

Thind said 106-year-old Makko from booth no. 74 in the Amloh Assembly segment, 96-year-old Surjit Kaur from booth no. 50 in the Bassi Pathana Assembly segment and 91-year-old Bachan Kaur enthusiastically filled out their enumeration forms to safeguard their right to vote.

She informed that the SIR will continue till July 24 and appealed to all eligible voters to actively participate in the exercise, describing it as an important initiative to further strengthen democracy through accurate and updated electoral rolls.

DC reviews field work

The DC, along with Bassi Pathana SDM Deepjyot Kaur, conducted extensive field visits to assess the on-ground work being carried out by the BLOs and monitor the progress of the enumeration process. Reviewing the door-to-door exercise, she directed BLOs to ensure that no eligible voter was left out and that the enumeration was completed in a transparent, accurate and time-bound manner. She also interacted with residents and encouraged them to actively participate in the revision exercise.

Kaur, meanwhile, assisted the elderly and other vulnerable voters in filling out their enumeration forms, reiterating the administration’s commitment to making the process accessible to all.

The DC said the district administration was making every effort to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of inclusion in the electoral roll due to lack of awareness or assistance. She appealed to all voters to extend full cooperation to BLOs and election staff by submitting their enumeration forms along with the required documents within the stipulated timeframe.
