SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 — The Selangor government will continue providing RM150 shopping vouchers under the Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) and Skim Mesra Insan Istimewa (SMIS), with distribution for this year set to begin tomorrow.
State executive councillor for welfare Anfaal Saari said the vouchers will be given to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) who have been approved as members of the Skim Mesra scheme in 2024 or earlier.
“New registrations are temporarily closed as part of efforts to improve the existing initiative and align services with the needs of the target groups.
“Starting this year, members can redeem their vouchers at their respective state constituency service centres, based on their voting location,” she said in a statement.
Anfaal said the state government has set a 90-day validity period for each voucher from the date of redemption.
Voucher claims must follow the member’s birth month, structured into four phases:
- Phase 1: Members born in January to March (redemption period: February to March)
- Phase 2: Members born in April to June (redemption period: April to June)
- Phase 3: Members born in July to September (redemption period: July to September)
- Phase 4: Members born in October to December (redemption period: October to December)
The 2025 Selangor Budget has allocated RM20 million for the Skim Mesra scheme, benefiting 20,000 individuals aged 50 and above, as well as PWDs.
Previously, the SMUE funeral assistance for senior citizens was discontinued in May 2019 before being reinstated in 2021.
