A disappointing video has gone viral, causing uproar online. In the video, a boy ties a young poodle's mouth shut and sets fire to it with a lighter.
The dog, enveloped in flames, is seen urgently running in pain, but the culprit continues to film its struggle as it frantically rolls on the ground, probably in an attempt to extinguish the flames. The dog soon becomes overwhelmed and remains motionless, breathing and on fire.
However, the awful abuse does not stop there. As the fire dies down, the dog tries to stand and travel towards a bridge.
My Forever Doggo, an online platform that helps locate homes for stray dogs, uploaded the video on their Instagram page. The dog media company reported that the animal mistreatment occurred on Carey Island in Selangor.
The culprit has yet to be identified. Meanwhile, a local non-governmental organization is looking for leads and eyewitnesses in this case. People with information are urged to contact Wani at 012-284 6039 or wanimuthiah@gmail.com.
The perpetrator, who had been closely monitoring the dog and filming it on his phone, pushes it off the bridge. The video abruptly ends. The dog's survival status is unknown at this time.
