Kota Kinabalu: Sabah needs diverse human capital to boost the State’s economic growth as part of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan, said the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor.
He said developing human capital in Sabah will not be concentrated in one specific field only, as highly skilled expertise in other fields are needed as well. As such, the Sabah Government will always prioritise the aspect of education to produce skilled labour.
“Based on this commitment, the Government will continue to support all the efforts of the Malaysian Education Ministry and the Sabah Education Department in further improving the excellence of education as well as programmes related to human capital development in this State,” he said when launching the 2023 Borneo-zone World School Milk at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here, Tuesday.
His speech was read by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir. Hajiji reiterated that excellent and quality human capital is very important to succeed in various government policies, agendas and development programmes, and further drive the State's progress to a higher level.
He said producing quality labour would include ensuring that the new generation of youths are stronger, fitter and more intelligent and that they reap the benefits of the school milk programme in terms of health and nutrition.
“The World School Milk Day celebration, which aims to foster and encourage the practice of students drinking full cream milk, is able to contribute to good health and growth.
“Children with balanced and sufficient nourishment will become intelligent, active and creative people, and have a positive impact in becoming valuable national assets.
“I believe that a healthy, fit and knowledgeable generation has values and high skills, and can contribute to the wellbeing of the country, especially in this State,” he added.
