The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday said that 15 Filipino seafarers aboard two container ships intercepted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are safe and unharmed.
In a statement, the DMW said the families of the crew members have been informed of their condition.
DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the vessels Epaminondas and MSC Francesca were attempting to leave the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday when they were intercepted by the IRGC.
Ten Filipinos were on board the Epaminondas, while five others were aboard the MSC Francesca.
“We have been assured that all 15 seafarers are safe and unharmed. We remain in close coordination with their families, the manning agency, and shipowners, and continue to provide updates and support,” Cacdac said.
