THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) rescued 57 overseas Filipino worker applicants and shut down five suspected unregistered accommodation facilities in simultaneous operations in Parañaque City on July 25.
In a statement released Tuesday, the DMW said the operation was carried out by its National Capital Region (NCR) office in coordination with the Migrant Workers Protection Bureau, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Parañaque City Police District.
The operation followed intensified surveillance targeting suspected illegal recruitment activities in the city, the agency said.
The rescued OFW applicants underwent an initial assessment and documentation process by DMW-NCR personnel before being transferred by OWWA to a temporary accommodation facility, where they will receive assistance and other support services.
"The protection of the rights and the promotion of the welfare of OFWs are our paramount concerns," DMW-NCR director Atty. Falconi Millar said.
Millar added that the regional office remains committed to protecting aspiring overseas workers, ensuring compliance with existing regulations, and promoting safe, orderly, and ethical labor migration.
The DMW urged the public to report suspected illegal recruitment and human trafficking activities to its National Capital Region office through its hotline, email, or official social media channels.
