Kota Kinabalu: Sarawak’s Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin reminded Parliament that Malaysia was formed by Sabah, Sarawak and the peninsula and that the country belongs to all and not just the Malays.
“The Malays claim ownership of Tanah Melayu, yes that is their right. But Sarawak, as a Dayak, I can declare that one-third of Malaysia belongs to us (Sarawak),” he said.
“So why do we have to fight? Why do we need to talk about this matter because it does not bring good, why don’t we discuss about things that bring progress to our country?”
He urged every Malaysian, whether the opposition or the Government, to walk the talk and do the right thing for our country.
He also spoke out against branding others as Kafir (non-believer), traitor or someone who is not good.
“It is because of ‘Kafir’ like me that you are now or have felt what it is like to be the Government.
“I am offended by the label because as a Malaysian I have never interfered with the rights of any Malaysian,” he said.
He said that if people in any country, whether majority or minority, are subjected to excessive levels of stress, they will become rioters, killers and rebels.
“Therefore, let us not incite hatred because it has the potential to destroy the country,” he said.
