The world is no stranger to the repercussions of consuming exotic animals.

With the Covid-19 pandemic still fresh in many people’s minds, the idea of another health crisis sparked by unusual food choices remains a cause for concern.

What started as a regional outbreak in Wuhan, China, led to a global catastrophe, raising questions about our relationship with wildlife and food safety.

Comedian calls out Indonesian man for eating bat in viral video

And now, a recent viral video has reignited that debate.

In the video, Christian Giacobbe, a Bali-based stand-up comedian, humorously confronts an Indonesian man for cooking and eating a bat.

Shared on Giacobbe’s TikTok account, the clip has garnered attention for its mix of humour and cautionary undertones.

“What in the Wuhan is this recipe?” Giacobbe asked, jokingly questioning whether the man’s culinary choice could trigger another pandemic.

“Bro, chill. We just got out of Covid. Do you want to start another pandemic? Can you just be normal and eat chicken like everyone else?”

Giacobbe’s remarks were in response to a now-deleted video posted by the man on TikTok, where he demonstrated how he prepared the bat by frying it with turmeric before serving it with instant noodles.

The comedian’s reaction has sparked online discussions about food safety and the lingering fear of future pandemics linked to exotic animal consumption.
