The Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said attempts to link Barisan Nasional's performance in the Johor election to a royal pardon for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak are illogical.

How about the persistent claim by PM6 that the monies that went into his personal bank account was a donation?

Do you agree that the donation excuse was illogical too?

Even up to now, after a lengthy legal battle and exhausted all legal avenues and sentenced to prison, he still maintained that it was a donation.

A total of 9 judges directly decided on the merits of former prime minister Najib Razak's SRC International case across the three main appellate stages: 1 High Court judge, 3 Court of Appeal judges, and 5 Federal Court judges.

High Court: 1 judge found him guilty.

Court of Appeal: A panel of 3 judges unanimously upheld the conviction.

Federal Court (Main Appeal): A panel of 5 judges unanimously dismissed his final appeal.

Additionally, when Najib later applied to the Federal Court to review his conviction and sentence, a completely new 5-judge panel heard the review. This review panel dismissed his bid in a 4-1 majority decision.

And despite undergoing the above due processes, some Umno leaders still try to portray that PM6 was not accorded a fair trial and a fair judicial process with regard to the SRC International-related charges against him.

The judges do not decide based on the dramas put up by the prosecution or the defence, nor do they decide based on how good a lawyer you have engaged.

If the facts and evidence adduced showed that an offence has been committed, then judges must pronounce a conviction and if the facts and evidence adduced do not show an offence committed then they must pronounce an acquittal. Any other matters are extraneous or irrelevant.

The judiciary, as an organ of state, had to be accountable in its actions.

Judges are accountable to the extent of deciding the cases before them expeditiously in public and delivering their judgments promptly and giving reasons for their decisions.

Every of the judges at every level of the judiciary have unanimously found Najib guilty based on facts and evidence adduced in court.

In the end, it was “a simple and straightforward case of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money laundering”.

The evidence of guilt was overwhelming; the wisdom and courage of judges prevailed over PM6’s lawyers’ attempts to disrupt and delay the proceedings.
