Recently, the MP for Julau revealed that he quit PKR in 2021 partly due to “excessive pressure” from the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).
Woooohh…what does he expect from LHDN?
Treat him with a velvet glove?
Similarly, do all the politicians and elites also believe and expect to be treated with velvet gloves by LHDN?
Based on this statement from the MP for Julau, it appears so.
After leaving PKR and sit as an independent, initially backing the Perikatan Nasional government, did LHDN `took off their foot from the pedal’ and release the excessive pressure that he claimed he was facing earlier?
His self confessed claim is indeed intriguing and further reaffirmed the beliefs of the ordinary rakyat that there is indeed 2 parallel tax regime in this country.
One is for the politicians and the political elite while the ordinary rakyat are subject to another, a tougher and more punishing tax regime.
Ordinary Malaysians are already perplexed and wonder why and the basis why LHDN withdrawn its appeal against a High Court decision to refuse a summary judgment to recover RM10.3 million in unpaid income tax against Najib’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa.
Why the High Court refused the application by LHDN for a summary judgment?
The High Court found that an affidavit submitted by a LHDN officer in their application for summary judgment did not verify the belief that there was no merit to her defence and the certificate submitted by the government as proof of the amount of tax due and payable was not signed by the LDHN director-general as required under Section 142 of the Income Tax Act 1967.
The LDHN director-general, as required under Section 142 of the Income Tax Act 1967, didn’t sign the certificate submitted by the government as proof of the amount of tax due and payable?
Shocking!
Were those deliberate acts?
Were the DG for LHDN censured for that act i.e not signing the certificate resulting in the case being thrown out by the Courts?
So much for the efficacy and efficiency of LHDN in their work processes.
The founder and major shareholder of Country Heights Holdings Bhd, however, will disagree on the lack of efficacy and efficiency of LHDN in their pursuit of tax owing by debtors to them.
In 2017, LHDN in pursuit RM22.5 million worth of tax liabilities incurred by Country Height's wholly-owned unit, Country Heights Sdn Bhd (CHSB), seized the personal fixed deposits of some RM126 million placed in a foreign-owned bank that belonged to its executive chairman and major shareholder.
In trying to recover the said sum from CHSB, all the steps and processes and documentation appeared to have been executed with precision, unlike the case against the daughter of PM6.
