A dog’s love is unconditional, and that’s normally a sentiment not fully understood by those who don’t have pups themselves. However, if you’ve never had a dog before, this story may shine some light on how wholesome these creatures really are with their owners.

In a TikTok video shared by saree drapist & content creator Thivyan Jayareuben to his account @thivyan.jayareuben, the artist documented what it was like reuniting with his pet dog named Vella after not seeing his owner for about three weeks.

During the minute-and-a-half-long clip, Thivyan, who arrived at his abode somewhere in Kuala Lumpur, hid behind a curtain in the living room. Almost instantly, little Vella dashes around the house, looking for his owner. Originally coming from the kitchen, Vella runs outside and discovers Thivyan’s shoe, sniffing it to find his owner’s scent.

Continuing his search, Vella runs back to the kitchen before making another round outside the house. Coming across Thivyan’s backpack on the sofa, Vella sniffs it once more in an attempt to get Thivyan’s scent again. After a good search, Thivyan decides to call out to Vella, to which he responds by whining with glee and dashing down the stairs, having gone to the second floor of the home to find his owner.

Running with pure might, Vella jumps into Thivyan’s arms before showering him with licks, whining in excitement over his return.

“This is the sweetest thing I have watched today! You are so blessed bro!” wrote one user.

Other users also expressed how they have similar, and not-so-similar, instances with their dogs after not seeing them for a prolonged period of time.

“So cute! My dog instantly forgets me the moment I leave my house for university, and doesn’t even care when I come back,” light-heartedly added another user.
