Vanessa lives in California, USA, with her beloved dogs, Kane and Luna.

At the end of June last year, Vanessa had to say goodbye to Luna forever.

Sadly, Luna passed away following a severe epileptic seizure.

A heartbreaking ordeal

Despite receiving medical care, Luna showed no neurological improvement. Her owners had to make the difficult decision to have her put to sleep. They made sure Kane could say goodbye to his little sister, as the two dogs had always been inseparable.

Even though they weren't biological siblings, Kane and Luna grew up together and behaved like real brother and sister. When their owners brought Kane to the veterinary clinic to say his final goodbyes, it was an incredibly painful moment.

Overwhelming sadness

In the video, Kane can be seen searching for his sister in the clinic rooms. When he enters the room, he gently sniffs Luna, as if giving her one last kiss. It was enough to make us burst into tears...

Internet users were devastated by the video. “Animals just know! When our dog passed away last May, her father and siblings became restless while she was still alive, before she passed at the vet's. We told her to go and see her siblings at home to say goodbye. After she passed, they stayed awake for a while, then went back to sleep. Sending our deepest condolences,” wrote one person.

Others offered advice: “I gave my surviving dog the collar he was wearing when he passed, and she carried it everywhere, wandering around her crate for a few days, mourning him. She understood. I know it helped her cope with his sudden absence.” We send our heartfelt condolences to Luna's family.
