MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday assured the public that prices of medicines would not increase until June.
Speaking at the Kapihan sa Manila Hotel, DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa said they were closely monitoring the potential rise in medicine prices in the second half of the year as higher logistics costs—driven by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East—begin to affect supply chains.
“So, in medicine, we talked to the pharma industry. They promise that they won’t increase (prices)… but they said it’s only until June,” Herbosa said, explaining that most companies are operating on roughly a three-month inventory.
