
MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said it is “ready and on alert” for the possible entry of the Ebola virus in the country.
It issued the statement after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared an international health emergency over an outbreak of an Ebola strain in the Democratic Republic of Congo. There is no vaccine for the disease has so far killed more than 80.
“We have been notified through the IHR channels and are in active coordination with the WHO,” the DOH said in a statement on Sunday.
