MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Health (DOH) urged the public to take precautions against heat-related illnesses, particularly heat stroke, which poses a significant threat to vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.

In an interview with state-run media PTV on Thursday, Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said it was important to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, as the summer heat intensifies.

“To our countrymen, especially the elders and children, they are the most at risk for heat-related illnesses. Drink plenty of water, avoid staying in hot places for too long, and if you feel unwell, seek medical attention immediately,” he said in Filipino.
