DOJ calls on media to submit videos of Senate shooting

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has appealed to the public and media to submit verifiable photos, videos, and other pieces of evidence that could help in the investigation of the Senate shooting.

Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida urged individuals who may have captured footage or witnessed the events to come forward and provide materials that can be authenticated and reviewed by investigators.

He also called on members of the media who were present during the Senate incident to submit videos, photographs, and other documentation that may help establish the sequence of events.

The DOJ said the investigation will include the collection of CCTV footage, ballistic and paraffin examination results, communication logs, deployment records, witness statements, and other forensic materials from law enforcement agencies and Senate offices.

Authorities have been instructed to coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine National Police, NCRPO, and other units involved in the initial response to ensure the timely submission of reports and evidence.

Vida said a special panel of prosecutors has been created to conduct a comprehensive case build-up investigation into the shooting incident and related developments inside and around the Senate.

The panel will have the authority to issue subpoenas.
