MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed on Monday that an anti-trafficking task force in Cebu is investigating Thomas Markle Sr., father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, over a case involving suspected child sexual abuse materials.
DOJ spokesman Raphael Niccolo Martinez said the Regional Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) task force in Cebu is handling the investigation.
“The DOJ confirms that the matter involving Thomas Markle Sr. is currently under investigation by the Regional Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) Task Force in Cebu,” Martinez said.
Martinez did not provide further details.
Media reports said the investigation stemmed from the alleged discovery of suspected child sexual abuse images and videos among belongings reportedly left at Markle’s former residence in Cebu.
