MANILA, Philippines — About 1.1 million private sector employees in the National Capital Region (NCR) are expected to benefit from the P85 daily wage increase, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Thursday.
Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino said that the wage adjustment goes beyond the increase in basic daily pay, as several mandatory benefits were computed based on a worker’s basic wage.
Tolentino said that with the first tranche of he wage increase taking effect on July 19, 2026, monthly earnings for minimum wage earners working six days a week, such as a security guard who currently earns around P18,127 per month, are expected to rise to about P19,692.
A second tranche scheduled for Jan. 20, 2027 will further increase monthly earnings to approximately P20,345.
“But that is not all,” Tolentino said, noting that overtime pay and night shift differential will also increase because these benefits were linked to the worker’s basic wage.
He added that holiday pay and other premium payments would likewise rise, creating what he described as a “ripple effect” that will provide additional support to workers across Metro Manila.
