- Country music icon Dolly Parton gave an update on her health on Friday, just days before her death at the age of 80.
- In an interview with People on Aug. 21, she said she neglected her own medical needs while caring for her late husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who died in March 2025.
- The legendary singer recently missed the opening of a new attraction at her Dollywood theme park in Tennessee after suffering from dizziness and dehydration, prompting her doctor to advise against travel.
- However, she said that her health issues had been “magnified” by social media. “It’s not like I haven’t been through hard times with my health,” Parton told People. “But I think because we live in a 24/7 world with social media, everything gets magnified in ways it wasn’t years ago.”
- She continued, “I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I’m the Queen of Social Media AI! Seriously, though, even though I’m still healin’, I’m still workin’.”
