A recent post has touched the hearts of many Malaysians after a woman and her family surprised their Indonesian maid with a heartfelt gesture.
Taking to Threads, Puan Elisya (@elysyaannys) shared that her maid, Itri, had spent years caring for her children and family while being separated from her own child back home in Indonesia.

Puan Elisya shared that Itri once told her she left Indonesia when her daughter was just three years old, quietly leaving while her child was still asleep so she wouldn’t have to see her cry.
“Itri told me that when she left her home in Indonesia, her child was only three years old. She quietly left while her little one was still asleep because she didn’t want her to cry,” Puan Elisya wrote.
To thank Itri for taking such good care of her children over the years, Puan Elisya decided to surprise her with a heartfelt gift she’ll never forget.
Mother reunited with her daughter
In a video shared in the post, Itri was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears after Puan Elisya and her family surprised her by bringing her daughter from Indonesia to Malaysia following more than three years apart.
“Keeping this here as a memory. It’s been more than three years since my domestic helper, Itri, last saw her child. Thank you, Itri, for taking such wonderful care of my children. Today, I was fortunate enough to have a little extra, so I brought her child to Malaysia.”
“Now, after all this time, they’re finally reunited, and her child is already six years old,” Puan Elisya wrote.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Puan Elisya said she has always regarded Itri as more than just a domestic helper, but as a fellow mother.
“I’ve always seen her as more than just a domestic helper. To me, she’s a person and a mother, just like I am,” she said.
