Kota Kinabalu: The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security must not be in denial about local white rice (BPT) marketing manipulation in the wake of the price increase in imported stocks.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Agriculture Portfolio Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said the Ministry should be more serious and sensitive over BPT shortages, which only happened when the retail price of imported white rice reached up to RM3.90kg, compared to the retail control price of RM2.60kg.
The former Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry said this significant price difference is one of the factors behind the manipulation scandal.
