TAWAU: Warisan’s Sri Tanjong Assemblyman Justin Wong urged Tengku Datuk Ahmad Fuad not to interfere with Article 7(1) of the Sabah Constitution, which was painstakingly drafted by the Inter-Governmental Committee to facilitate the formation of a nation with the active participation of the people of Sabah in mind.
“I am appalled by Fuad’s recent statement in which he proposed a constitutional reform to Article 7(1) of the State Constitution, arguing that it would further strengthen political stability.
“Is Fuad questioning the TYT’s discretion to appoint a Chief Minister?” Justin said, referring to the Head of State’s discretionary power.
He said Fuad also argued that Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was correct in repealing Article 6(7) of the State Constitution in May 2023, in response to a demand by Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal to reinstate it.
