KOTA BELUD: Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (PKAN) said the RM16 billion Federal allocation received by Sabah last year is not to be conflated with the state’s 40pc entitlement under the constitution.
Kota Belud Zone Coordinator Dr Kanul Gindol said such move would be met with strong opposition from the people of Sabah.
Kanul said the 40pc entitlement is a constitutional right outlined in Sections 1 & 2, Part IV, Tenth Schedule, as well as Article 112C and Article 112D of the Federal Constitution, mandating the payment to the Sabah State Consolidated Fund.
He claimed that when the Prime Minister said “the Central Government has given Sabah RM16 billion in 2023” it seemed to imply that the payment of RM16 billion exceeded the 40pc requested by Sabah.
