BEAUFORT: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) should not shut down supply for maintenance when people were faced with extreme heat.
A consumer from Weston, Joe Yahya said he was disappointed with the frequent power disruptions as it was uncomfortable for the people.
During the recent holiday, people of Kg Weston had a subdued celebration due to the electricity disruption.
“On Thursday, there was a blackout from 1.30pm to 4pm and Friday from 1.30pm to 5.30pm and continued at night,” said Joe

Read more There were no notices informing the people about the electricity disruptions, it was just ‘suddenly switched off’, causing great discomfort due to the extreme heat.
“This would certainly affect newborn babies and children as well as elderly people who were not well. This could cause heat stroke,” he said.
If upgrading was necessary, they should wait for an opportune time to carry out their work and not choose to carry it out at this time when the heat was tremendous, he said.
People needed their ceiling fans and air-conditioning to tackle the heat.
The business community was also affected by the electricity disruptions.
A shop owner in Sentral Beaufort, Norhayani Awang expressed disappointment with the electricity disruptions.
“Doesn’t SESB think about the losses incurred by the business community when there is no electricity?” she asked.
Until Friday, the electricity disruptions were constant and it was not easy for the business community to carry out their activities without fans or air-conditioning.
“If you need to upgrade, give us a notice. Don’t just shut it down suddenly, if you want to upgrade, issue a notice, don’t do it suddenly,” she fumed.
