Donald Trump, the 78-year-old former president, was shot during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, resulting in ear injuries.
According to Al-Jazeera, around 6:02 p.m. on Saturday, Trump was on stage, greeting the enthusiastic audience with a wave before beginning his customary rally speech in the June sun.
He was talking about President Joe Biden's increase in illegal immigration crossings at the border. Trump addressed the assembly, saying, "That chart is a few months old. If you want to see something really sad, take a look at what happened."
This is when, at roughly 6:15 p.m., at least five gunshots were heard. As other Secret Service operatives scurried to the platform and encircled Trump, the president ducked to the floor.
"Give me my shoes, please." As the agents hoisted Trump off the ground, he shouted, "Let me get my shoes." Then he uttered the words "Wait, wait, wait" and began to pump his fist.
After a short while, Trump was hoisted to his feet and hurriedly led offstage to his vehicle, with blood evident on his cheek and in his right ear.
Before being driven out, he was observed clenching his fists and exclaiming, "Fight!" to the crowd.
Multiple shots were fired at the stage "from an elevated position outside the rally venue," according to Al-Jazeera. The gunman was "neutralized" by the authorities, and he is now dead.
Panic was caused by a flurry of gunshots, and a bleeding Trump—who claimed to have been shot in the ear—was encircled by Secret Service agents as he rushed to his SUV and gave a defiant fist pump.
The presumed Republican nominee was "fine" following the shooting, which he said punctured the upper portion of his right ear.
"As soon as I felt the bullet ripping through my skin and heard bullets and a zipping sound, I knew something was wrong. A lot of bleeding occurred," said Donald Trump, as reported by AP News.
