Donald Trump dances with local performers during welcoming ceremony

UNITED STATES President Donald Trump stole the spotlight upon his arrival in Malaysia today, spontaneously joining local traditional dancers during the official welcome ceremony.

Trump, who was greeted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, appeared relaxed and smiling as he moved to the rhythm of the performers, eliciting cheers and applause from the crowd.

He also took time to greet members of the public, holding both Malaysian and US flags and waving them as a gesture of friendship between the two nations.

“His presence and interaction with the people symbolise the strong ties between Malaysia and the United States,” an onlooker noted.

Trump is in Malaysia to attend the two-day 47th ASEAN Summit, alongside the 13th ASEAN-US Summit and the 20th East Asia Summit. The visit is at the invitation of Prime Minister Anwar, who serves as ASEAN Chair for 2025.

After the cultural reception, Trump departed with Anwar in the presidential limousine, The Beast, en route to the summit venue. - October 26, 2025
