
SIPITANG: Mosques and suraus here received RM500 and RM300 donations, respectively, in conjunction with the fasting month.
Qhazanah Sabah Berhad cum Sindumin Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusoff Yaacob handed the donations during a ceremony at Masjid Kg Pelakat here, recently.
“We have delivered the donations to 12 mosques and 30 suraus for the breaking of fast,” he said, adding the donations were a collaboration with Sipitang Member of Parliament Datuk Matbali Musah.
“We want to support the mosque and surau in promoting the place of worship where prayers, breaking of fast and tarawih prayers are held during the fasting month,” Dr Yusoff said.

Read more He said mosques and suraus are not just places of worship, but also for forming friendships, sharing religious knowledge, and keeping up with current events in the villages at the district level.
He said the imam, as the head of the mosque and surau, should get reliable information that could be disseminated to the public.
“The imam can convey the message to the people because many people will come for Friday and terawih prayers and this can be the opportunity to convey all the necessary information,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Yusoff and Matbali also distributed donations to the disadvantaged and elderly residents of Kg Pelakat.
They also donated paint, solar lights, and fans to the mosque and suraus in need.
