The Dutch striker has joined SC Heerenveen on-loan for the season.
Bologna had sent Van Hooijdonk to the Eredivisie outfit in January for a six month deal.
The 22 year-old has a contract to 2025 with Bologna. He is the son of former Holland international Pierre van Hooijdonk.
