Jules Kounde has officially joined Barcelona from Sevilla.
Chelsea were tracking the French defender for months, but it is Barca who have secured his signature.
The Blaugrana have paid 50million euros to sign the 23-year-old, who will now undertake a medical.
It is the second time this summer that Chelsea have beaten to a transfer target by Barca, with the La Liga club also securing Raphinha from Leeds United.
Speaking to Barca's in-house media channel, Kounde said manager Xavi Hernandez was key to him joining Barca.
He said: "Xavi is a big reason as to why I'm here. His spiel convinced me, I'm excited to start working with the team.
"It's clear that we see football in the same way".
