Kota Kinabalu: The iconic replica of the KadazanDusun community's traditional headgear known as ‘Sigah’ at the Donggongon roundabout here will be demolished this month to make way for a flyover.

District Officer Francis Chong said prior to the demolition, a ritual based on KadazanDusun traditions will be carried out at the roundabout and at the Sigah's new site located on a road reserve this Saturday (Feb 11).

“We (Penampang District Office) have appointed the Penampang Native Court with the Sabah Bobolian Organisation as the implementer to conduct a ‘Mongimpi’ or ‘Mamason’ ritual for the Sigah relocation on its old site and new site which is located close by," said Chong.

Prominent leaders will witness Saturday's ceremony, he added.
