SANDAKAN: A total of 1,700 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed to residents of PPR Taman Gum-Gum Jaya, Batu 16, and surrounding areas during the Ziarah Kasih Ramadan programme held at the Masjid At-Taqwa compound, on Sunday.
The initiative was led by former Gum-Gum Assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Mohd Edris, in collaboration with local representatives, the PPR organizing committee, and several non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
As part of the programme’s charitable efforts, Zakaria also presented contributions to the mosque to support its activities during Ramadan.
In addition to the mosque distribution, he personally delivered bubur lambuk door-to-door to PPR residents, ensuring the communal spirit of Ramadan was shared among the community.
“This programme aimed to strengthen community ties and foster unity among residents through acts of charity and togetherness,” said Zakaria to the media.
He also emphasised that the initiative also encouraged the spirit of cooperation, as participants worked together to prepare and cook the traditional dish.
Beyond this PPR, Zakaria and his team attended similar programmes at several mosques within the Gum-Gum area, engaging with local communities.
The visits also provided an opportunity for residents to interact with Zakaria as a former leader of the constituency, reinforcing the bonds between leadership and the people.
