Kota Kinabalu: Skywatchers in Sabah can expect a rare double meteor shower tonight as the Southern Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids peak together, producing up to 30 meteors an hour. The best viewing is after midnight until about 5am on Friday.
According to the Malaysian Space Agency (Mysa), moonlight may reduce visibility of fainter meteors. However, bright fireballs from the Alpha Capricornids and the first early Perseid meteors may still be visible.
Mountain Torq has encouraged Mount Kinabalu climbers to look up during their summit ascent, saying they could witness meteors streaking across the night sky. Dark locations such as Kundasang, Kudat and around Mount Kinabalu offer the best views.
