Tragedy strikes twice within minutes of a midnight crash

On the night of tragedy, it was reported by China Press that the 16-year-old had gone out for a refuel at a nearby gas station. Initial investigations have reasons to believe that he had crashed in front of the station after losing control of the motorcycle, suffering massive head injuries. Unfortunately, the teen succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

When the 43-year-old father heard the news, he rushed to the scene. According to family members, he was clearly shaken and heartbroken after seeing his son’s lifeless body. Upon returning home to inform the rest of the family, he suddenly turned pale and collapsed.

Wife attempted resuscitation while awaiting ambulance

As he collapsed his wife, Leah Amour E. Basaca, immediately began CPR. When she began resuscitation, she said he still had a weak pulse, but the ambulance only arrived around 30 minutes later. Although paramedics continued CPR on the way to Port Dickson Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

A heartbreaking farewell as loved ones say goodbye to father and son

Family members, friends, and the teen’s classmates attended a joint wake at their house, where they paid their respects by singing a farewell song. On July 8, the father and son were both cremated at Fairy Park Crematorium in Seremban.

Local leader pledges support

The man is survived by his wife and two young daughters, aged 11 and 8, who are both Malaysian citizens currently studying in Port Dickson. The family has now lost its main source of financial support.

“I hope our elected representatives can step in and help my daughter-in-law obtain Malaysian citizenship soon so that she can legally support the household and raise the children,” Mr Lai’s 71-year-old father said.

Sri Tanjung assemblyperson Rajasekaran Gunasekaran, who attended the wake, vowed to help the family and follow up on the mother’s long-pending citizenship application and monitor the children’s welfare.

Following the news, Facebook users expressed their sorrow and sympathy in the comments section.
