MUSLIMS are encouraged to strengthen their relationship with the Quran, reflect on its verses, and apply its teachings in their everyday lives, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Marking the occasion of Nuzul Quran today, Ahmad Zahid expressed his hope that Muslims would continue to hold the Quran as their guiding light and pass on its understanding and love to future generations.
“As we commemorate Nuzul Quran, let us draw nearer to this holy book, reflect on its verses, and integrate its teachings into our daily lives,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) today.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof also highlighted the Quran's significance, stressing that it is not merely a book to be read but a comprehensive guide (hudan), a clear distinction between right and wrong (furqan), and a source of mercy and healing (syifa’) for those who cherish it.
“Let us take a lesson from the Nuzul Quran occasion and make the Quran our guiding principle in life,” Fadillah urged. “In this age of rapid information and technological advancements, it is crucial for us to return to the Quran as our ultimate foundation, which remains ever-relevant and timeless.”
Nuzul Quran commemorates the revelation of the first verse of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) when he was 41 years old, on the night of Friday, 17th Ramadan, in the Cave of Hira, Makkah.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil also spoke about the Quran’s profound impact, describing it as both a cure for the heart and a roadmap for life that continually brings blessings.
“Let us intensify our recitation of the Quran, appreciate its teachings, and incorporate them into our daily lives so that we grow closer to Allah SWT,” he said on X. “May we be blessed with His guidance and enveloped in His mercy.”
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail noted that the Quran is a living miracle granted to Prophet Muhammad, offering guidance, blessings, and strength for Muslims.
“The revelation of the Quran in Ramadan is not merely a historical event but a powerful reminder to uphold its teachings,” he said. “I urge Muslims to make the Quran a source of guidance, fostering unity and strengthening the ummah. Let us deepen our understanding and put its teachings into practice in our daily lives. Salam Nuzul Al-Quran; may its verses always illuminate our hearts.”
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin also reflected on the Quran’s importance, urging Muslims to use it as a source of inspiration and guidance for leading a more meaningful life.
“As we observe the significant event of the Quran's revelation, let us take this opportunity to further deepen our understanding and appreciation of its teachings,” he said on X.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa added that the Quran serves as a soothing and enriching scripture, with each verse bringing peace and each lesson pointing towards sincerity and virtue.
“On this blessed night, let us reflect on the Divine Word of God, draw closer to the beauty of revelation, and embrace its teachings in every step we take,” she said. “May our hearts always remain connected to this greatest miracle, becoming individuals who adhere to the values of His guidance.”- March 18, 2025
