MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has removed six more officials and employees linked to questionable flood control projects in Davao City following a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recommendation to file charges against those involved in projects awarded to contractor Genesis88.
Those sacked included Ferdinand Dallo, officer-in-charge assistant regional director of the DPWH Bicol Region and Emilio Sucaldito Jr., officer-in-charge district engineer of the Davao City 1st District Engineering Office.
Also removed were Kristine Apao, Kim Anthony Duque, Aljun Barcoma and Alexander Omadley, who held positions at the city’s district engineering office.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the personnel were removed following the NBI's recommendation to pursue charges against those implicated in the questionable flood control projects.
Dizon said no less than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the removal of officials and employees found to be involved in corruption and the misuse of public funds as part of a broader reform effort within the department.
The DPWH has been under scrutiny over alleged anomalies in flood control projects, with authorities investigating contractors and public officials suspected of involvement in irregularities.
