MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the construction of more bypass and farm-to-market roads nationwide to help farmers increase their income, cut fuel costs, and bring their produce to market faster.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon said earlier this week that the President's directive aims to strengthen the agriculture sector by improving road connectivity, particularly in rural areas where farmers often face long travel times and high transport costs that eat into their earnings.
Dizon said that the President also ordered the fast-tracking of long-delayed infrastructure projects, including the 9-kilometer Estrada Bypass Road in Barangay Cristo Rey, Capas, and the 10-kilometer Concepcion-Bamban Bypass Road in Concepcion, Tarlac, which had been stalled for six years.
Both projects are being accelerated to ensure completion by next year, allowing farmers and residents to benefit from improved road access, Dizon said.
