MANILA, Philippines — Contractors accused of defying Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) cease-and-desist orders (CDO) face suspension, blacklisting from government projects and other contractual sanctions, the agency warned as it cracks down on unauthorized construction in Taguig City.
The DPWH has issued show-cause orders to contractors allegedly continuing work despite CDOs covering questioned projects at the Lakeshore Complex in Barangay Lower Bicutan.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday said the alleged erring contractors have yet to be penalized, adding that the agency will determine the sanctions after reviewing the contractors’ explanations.
"The firms will be given the opportunity to explain why administrative, contractual or other action should not be taken against them," he said.
Under government procurement rules, contractors found liable for violations during contract implementation may face suspension and blacklisting.
