Datuk Shahrul Nasrun, Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth treasurer, has been ‘rested’ by the political coalition following the allegations made by his ex-wife, Fatin Amyera Zainal Abidin.

This was confirmed by UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh, who said that the decision was meant to give Shahrul space and time to sort out his personal matter.

Earlier, his ex-wife posted a series of Instagram Stories, accusing Shahrul of hiring prostitutes, subscribing to multiple female creators on OnlyFans, and bringing mistresses to an office space that he rented.

Lubricants, condoms, and sex toys, allegedly belonging to Shahrul, were also found at the premises, his ex-wife further claimed.

Shahrul was put on garden leave to give him space

As for Shahrul’s current situation, Akmal said the party will not interfere, and Shahrul will be given space to handle his personal affairs.

“For now, Shahrul is temporarily relieved from his duties, so that he can focus on his personal matters with his ex-wife,” Akmal told Sinar Harian on Wednesday (29 October).

At the time of writing (30 October), the UMNO Youth Chief, however, has yet to release an official statement about the matter.

Shahrul expressed regret at his ex-wife’s actions

The accusations came shortly after Shahrul was engaged to Merween Hanees Natasha, and the BN Youth treasurer, in his statement, assured that Merween had nothing to do with his ex-wife’s accusations.

Shahrul also expressed his regrets that what should’ve been kept personal is now being discussed by the public.

“I understand if she still harbours hatred against me, but I wish she finds her happiness and strength moving forward.”

Shahrul also said that he is focusing on his family while fixing himself. However, he has not responded to being put on garden leave by BN Youth.

In his statement, he included a legal warning referring to Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), reminding that offenders who are found guilty of cyberbullying or spreading false information could be fined up to RM50,000, imprisoned for up to a year, or both.
