Dr. Diva Kant Misra, Founder and Director of Swarnjyoti Eye Hospital and one of India’s leading vitreoretinal surgeons, has graduated from the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Leadership Development Program (LDP), Class of 2025-26. The graduation ceremony was held at the 41st APAO Congress in Hong Kong, in conjunction with the 37th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Symposium.

With this achievement, Dr. Misra has become the first ophthalmologist from the region to successfully complete the prestigious APAO Leadership Development Program.

The APAO Leadership Development Program is among the most selective professional development initiatives in global ophthalmology, identifying and grooming the next generation of leaders across the Asia-Pacific region. Selection is highly competitive, with participants chosen on the basis of clinical excellence, academic contribution, and demonstrated leadership potential.

Dr. Misra, widely regarded as one of the top retina surgeons in India and consistently recognized among Lucknow’s most trusted eye surgeons, expressed gratitude on completing the program.

“Graduating from the APAO LDP is a deeply meaningful milestone,” he said. “Leadership in medicine is ultimately about service, to patients, to peers, and to the next generation of ophthalmologists. My commitment to lifelong learning continues.”

Dr. Misra brings a distinguished portfolio to the cohort. He currently serves as President of the Young Ophthalmologists Society of India (YOSI) for 2024-26, Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) ONE Network Retina Subcommittee, Member of the APAO Young Ophthalmologists Standing Committee, and Convener of the Young Ophthalmologists Program at the World Ophthalmology Congress (WOC) 2026 in Prague.

His clinical and academic credentials include a vitreoretinal fellowship from Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya, Guwahati, an observership at the Stanford Byers Eye Institute, and a postgraduate course from Harvard Medical School. He is a recipient of the Kirk Packo Best Surgical Video Award at the Retina World Congress 2024, the AIOS International Hero of Ophthalmology Award (multiple times), and was named in the BusinessWorld 40 Under 40 Healthcare Leaders list.

Under his leadership, Swarnjyoti Eye Hospital has grown from a single center into a multi-location ophthalmology group across Lucknow and surrounding regions, with flagship centers in Aliganj and Alambagh, delivering advanced retinal, cataract, cornea, and oculoplasty care.
