KUALA LUMPUR: The medical team overseeing Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s treatment is satisfied with his recovery progress after 14 days of hospitalisation.
The former prime minister is still undergoing non-surgical physiotherapy at the National Heart Institute (IJN), according to his press secretary Sufi Yusoff.
Sufi said the recovery process is expected to take quite some time.
Dr Mahathir and his family are deeply grateful for the well-wishes and prayers for his swift recovery.
They also wish to apologise as hospital visits are currently limited to immediate family members, in accordance with medical advice.
The 100-year-old statesman was admitted to IJN on Jan 6 after a fall at his residence in Seri Kembangan.
He was confirmed to have suffered a fracture to his right hip bone.
Following consultations with specialist doctors, non-surgical physiotherapy was determined to be the most suitable treatment option.
