KUALA LUMPUR: Sekijang MP Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (pic) has been appointed as the new chairman of the Kelab Penyokong-Penyokong Kerajaan (BBC), or government backbenchers club.

The PKR representative’s appointment was announced by Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Dr Ramli Mohd Nor during the question-and-answer session.

“I have just been informed (of Dr Zaliha’s appointment),” he said.

Dr Zaliha, a former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), replaces Paya Besar MP Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah.

Shahar is now the Deputy Minister of Economy.

The BBC is an organisation comprising Dewan Rakyat members who are not in the Cabinet.

Its function is to support non-Cabinet members and assist in parliamentary affairs.
