Watford goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg admits he sought a move away on-loan last summer.
The Swede, 20, has struggled for first team action since his arrival from IFK Gothenburg in 2018.
"Watford is a fantastic city and club. It definitely feels like I've come in well. I live a little outside London in the northern parts, so you don't hear the traffic. Life outside is absolutely top class," he told Fotbollskanalen.
Dahlberg says that a loan was in the cards this summer.
"It was absolutely. We tried to get a move and talked about it. But it was a difficult window for goalkeepers when quite a few moved. Sure there were some alternatives, but the club was not willing to agree to the terms offered."
The 20-year-old could instead be loaned out in January.
"Yes, but before then I will continue to train in a good environment, with high tempo and quality. At the same time, there are no match situations."
