Kota Kinabalu: The “9th Sabah United Chinese Chamber of Commerce International Dragon Boat Race 2024” will be held at Likas Bay from June 7 to 9.

Tan Sri T.C Goh, President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) also announced that FCAS unanimously re-elected its Acting President Datuk Susan Wong, as the chairman of the organising committee.

He called on dragon boat enthusiasts and teams from within and outside Sabah, including those from overseas, to register in order to bring this internationally renowned annual event to new heights.

He noted that, last year’s FCAS International Dragon Boat Race held in conjunction with the National Chinese Cultural Festival and its series of celebrations broke the record in number of locally and aboard.

Its significance transcends ethnicity, becoming a popular national cultural sport event enthusiastically participated in by all Malaysians.

Susan said this year’s event would have 11 categories, with a total prize money of RM94,000.

The 11 categories include the Sabah State Governor Cup, the Sabah Chief Minister Cup, the FCAS International Dragon Boat Race Cup, the FCAS Cup (FCAS members), the FCAS Cup (Chinese mixed group), the FCAS Cup (Chinese men’s group), the Kinabalu Cup (youth group), the Kinabalu Cup (men’s group), the Kinabalu Cup (mixed group), the Kinabalu Cup (women’s group), and the President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) Cup (mixed group).

She urged the State Government and the private sector to continue giving their strong support.

The registration fee is RM 300 per team, and the deadline is May 27.
