Kota Kinabalu: Cash prizes totalling RM81,500 are up for grabs in the highly-anticipated International Dragon Boat Race, which has received a record participation of 133 teams.

Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, the race’s organising chairperson, in a statement also said the event has become a universal sport that is popular among all ethnic groups.

The programme is a platform not only to promote Chinese culture and celebrate Duan Wu Festival, but also to unite people from different backgrounds and enhance racial harmony in Sabah, she said.

The event will be held on July 2 and 3 at Likas Bay, Kota Kinabalu.
