  • A new study suggests that consuming white wine and champagne may reduce the risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
  • Other protective factors include eating more fruit, maintaining a positive mood, managing weight and blood pressure, and higher education levels.
  • The study, published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, identified 56 risk factors associated with cardiac arrest, with lifestyle factors having the most significant impact.
  • Researchers analysed data from the UK Biobank, finding that up to 63 per cent of cardiac arrest cases could be preventable.
  • While the mechanism behind the protective effect of white wine and champagne is unclear, the findings challenge previous assumptions about the unique benefits of red wine.
